High Speed Electric Motors

Definition
Speed of a motor is the magnitude of the rotational velocity of the electric motor shaft. In a movement application, swiftness of the motor dictates how fast the axis rotates – the number of total revolutions per unit time. Applications vary in their speed requirement, depending on what is being transferred and the coordination with the other components of the device. A balance must be achieved between quickness and torque, as motors typically generate less torque when run at higher speeds.

Solution Overview
We address velocity requirements during our design procedure by creating an optimum coil (referred to as windings) and magnet configurations. In some designs, the coil rotates based on motor building. Creating a motor design that eliminates the iron being combined with the coil outcomes in higher speeds. The inertia of these high velocity motors is reduced dramatically, raising the acceleration (responsiveness) as well. In some styles the magnet rotates with the shaft. Because the magnet is the contributing aspect for the motor inertia, creating a different design from a typical cylindrical magnet is required. Lowering the inertia drives higher speed and also acceleration.

Ever-power Technology
Ever-power offers designed high quickness motors for our brushless DC and brush DC technologies, with self-helping high-density rotor coils. The Conveyor Chain ironless character of brush DC coils permits both high acceleration and higher speeds, especially compared to brush DC motors with an iron-core design. Portescap offers a unique series of stage motors, the disc magnet series, that have a thin disc magnet as opposed to a cylindrical magnet. By lowering the inertia of the motors, we are able to achieve boosts to 10,000 rpm with a step motor, unparalleled in the market.
